For simplicity though, let’s imagine we have two lists: column_names = Īnd, we want to map the names to the values: name_to_value_dict = This can be really annoying to traverse and maintain, so I sometimes prefer to map the column names to each row of data. In my personal experience, I’ve found that database libraries often return data in a huge matrix or list of lists. That way, we can eliminate traversals and focus on maintaining a single dictionary. If these lists need to be scanned often, it may just make more sense to convert them into a dictionary. We can create a new Python dictionary using only one iterable if we choose to generate either the keys or the values on the fly. Sometimes iterating over two lists at the same time can be confusing and complicated. The stadium had recently been expanded to hold 34,500 fans for football, artificial turf was installed, and city leaders yearned to boost revenue with concerts. Ivor Wynne, wedged in the heart of Hamilton’s east end, was home to the Canadian Football League’s Tiger-Cats. Jean Garofoli, shown in this undated photo from the 1970s, was a flashy Hamilton promoter who helped bring Pink Floyd to Hamilton in 1975. Even once you can reach it, there's a bunch of obnoxious enemies surrounding the area making exploration overly laborious. You want to go investigate the big obvious story point? You need a ton of special equipment. The method in which story beats are introduced feels completely random, and often make sense only in hindsight if at all. There's no way to connect the dots without either a walk through, or excessive patience through trial and error. You built it? Well, that doesn't actually trigger the next story beat. Got the blueprint? Great, figure out where to get the materials. You want to build something? In Exercise 1, the figure can be decomposed into two individual prisms, but a dimension is shared between the two prisms-in this case, the height. If, however, the figure is similar to the figure in Exercise 1, there are two possible strategies. If the figure is like the one shown in Example 1, where the figure can be decomposed into separate prisms and it would be impossible for the prisms to share any one dimension, the individual volumes of the decomposed prisms can be determined and then summed. There are different ways the volume of a composite figure may be calculated. The volume of the object is 100 m 3 + 300 m 3 = 400 m 3. In general the formula to compute such a shape with height $h$, top rectangle $a\times b$ and bottom rectangle $c \times d$, with the $a$ side parallel to the $c$ side, is $\frac16 h(2ab+2cd+ad+bc)$. Assuming the faces are still plane, the cross-section at height $x$ (measured in $m$) is given by $(10-x)\times(8-\frac 32 x)$, and the volume can be determined by integration to yield $V = \int_0^2(10-x)(8-\frac 32 x)dx = 118 m^3$. If the top and bottom faces of the stack are laid out as hinted in the question, with the bottom $10m$ parallel to the top $8m$ and the bottom $8m$ parallel to the top $5m$, it is neither a trapezium prism nor a truncated pyramid, because the non-horizontal edges do not intersect in a single point. In case the $8m$ on top and bottom are parallel, you have a trapezium prism, with trapezium area $(10m+5m)/2 \times 2m$ and "height" $8m$ (perpendicular to the trapezium), resulting in a volume of $120 m^3$. Furthermore the question might be ambiguous whether the $8m$ edge of the top face is parallel or perpendicular to the $8m$ edge of the bottom face, and this affects the final result. The pyramid-based answers do not work because the trapezoidal prism is not actually part of a pyramid: the non-horizontal edges do not meet in a single point. I know the approach needed to solve this problem. By how many centimetres can the level be raised?
